The Stage on Water

Before the Opera

Later that evening we went to an opera called Tosca. It was wonderful! The stage was on water while the audience was on land. It was in Italian and the music was beautiful. The eye would move throughout the opera.

EUROPE!!!!!!!

Matt and I left Sunday, Aug. 10 to Utah. My grandpa Tietjen had been sick for a long time and knew he would passing soon. He had a tumor or cancer on his pancreus. To me he didn't look like the fun and loving grandpa that I knew. He passed away on Monday around 6:00 p.m. and I was glad to see him before he went and to be with my grandma. I know he is in a better place and will be missed greatly! We left for Europe that night around 12 p.m. It was hard for me knowing I wouldn't be able to see my family and to attend his funeral but happy to be going to Europe!! Matt has family who live in Germany. His mother's mom, sister, brother-in-law, and his cousisns, Robert, Julianna, and Teresa. We flew into the New Jeresy Airport around 7:00 a.m. We had a 14 hour layover and decided to see New York City! We got a hotel for the day to store our luggage and to try and take a quick nap but we were to excited! While in New York City we saw the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, and Times Square. We then left for Frankfurt, Germany. It was a long flight! We were greeted by his Aunt Rita, Teresa and his mom Christa!! After a 3 hour drive we arrived in Aalen were they live. Its so different then the U.S. It's so green, like the east coast! I will include pictures! The next day we left and went to the southern part of Germany, near Austria and saw the Alps!

Heise Swimming Pool

To beat the heat, Matt and I decided to go swimming! We drove 25 minutes to a place called Heise, it is heated by hot springs. They have a diving board, waterslide, a pool, and another pool heated by the springs. It was fun to get away and cool down.

Matt doing the gangster lean.

Matt loves the pool!
So I learned that Matt is a better swimmer then me and everytime I would swim close to him, he would swim off and I would end up chasing him all around the pool. Boy did I get my workout!
